I’ve been drawn to graphic and geometric patterns lately, infusing bits and pieces into my home décor and office area in black, white, gold, and bronze tones. Of course, it was only a matter of time before these trends made their way into my cookie designs too.
The theme for this set was based on 2 of my favourite textile patterns – on the left, “Les Touches” by Brunschwig et Fils, on the right, “Confetti” by Kelly Wearstler – that I use for throw pillows in my bedroom. I hand-painted the dots and graphic elements on my cookies, but put my own spin on the original designs and changed the colours to make sure they’d look cohesive as a set.
I wanted a linear pattern for the 3rd design to break up the “spotted” look, and was inspired by Anthropologie’s Amala Flokati rug that I’ve been coveting for some time for my own office.
These cookies were included on a sweet table amid an array of colourful fruit juices, so keeping a neutral colour scheme with bold patterns provided the right balance for a chic, modern look.
