Inspired by: Town Shoes

Town Shoes
Every now and then, a project comes along that epitomizes why I love what I do. This recent collaboration with Town Shoes did just that, as I was commissioned to create multiple designs showcasing the Spring shoe collections across their 3 brands – Town Shoes, DSW, and The Shoe Company. Though a departure from my usual work creating single-design event favours, it was a welcome change of pace!

The primary challenge was picking an array of styles and colours that would honour the different personalities of each brand, while also being mindful of how feasible it would be to translate each design into cookie form. It was also important that they looked cohesive as a set since the cookies would be displayed together. Luckily I was given a lot of creative freedom by the team at Town Shoes; I browsed each of their brands’ websites to narrow which Spring styles would work best, and went to work from there.

I had so much fun working on this project – thank you Town Shoes, DSW and The Shoe Company for your order!

Blush + Fidelity Denim

Fidelity Denim Cookies

I recently had the opportunity to create some custom cookies for Blush, a cute boutique located in downtown Guelph with an incredibly chic, feminine style and atmosphere. Though I haven’t had a chance to pop by in person yet, I’ve long admired their shop and pieces online. Take a look at Blush’s Instagram, website or blog and you’ll see exactly what I mean!

Some lines you’ll find at Blush include Velvet, Des Petits Hauts, Ted Baker, Darling, and Fidelity. This particular set was for a Fidelity denim event, and I was asked to create some denim pocket cookies in shades of blue to follow the theme. Aside from those directives, I had complete creative freedom – which always makes the design process so fun!

I wanted to create a chic, stylish design to match both Fidelity and Blush’s brand aesthetics. I hand-cut each pocket shaped cookie and used royal icing to mimic the signature “F” embroidery found on the back pockets of their denim. I created left and right pockets for each colour combination.

Michele (the owner and visionary behind Blush) had referenced a light blue I used in another set that she liked, so I used that as a starting point for the light wash denim and added small touches of Cornflower and Navy Blue colouring to create the darker “washes”. Fidelity Denim cookies
It was such a pleasure to work on this set – and of course, the cookies were beautifully styled and posted on Blush’s Instagram. Thank you Michele!
